Moontrees
A downloadable game for Windows
Hold SPACE to talk to the trees.
MOONTREES was designed as a game to be played by a series of participants, who will each add their voices to the wind. Their messages will continue growing the trees after they have left, and others may hear them as they add their own.
MOONTREES was created by students of the Game Design Department at Campus Gotland of the University of Uppsala. It was a partial inspiration behind their research into the connection of player experience and procedurally generated artifacts. It was designed as an exhibition piece using PCG to create unique artworks, meant to evoke a sense of belonging and connection through time. It uses the Godot engine.
It has been created for and exhibited at the 2025 VisSpel Valentine's Game Jam and was available to be played at the 2025 Gotland Game Conference.
MOONTREES is a project by Claire Delhomme and Miranda Angyal.

This was really cool to see at GGC and nice to see the embrace of procedural generation techniques and unconventional "gameplay". Very cool that you integrated everyone on the showfloor into a shared experience that builds upons everyone's play and get co-created by people + computer algorithm into something particular, personal and shared.
I really hope people take this as example and as a seed for future ideas both for coming students and games at ggc and something to bring into the game industry.
Thank you so much for playing and for your feedback! "something particular, personal and shared" is exactly what we hoped to achieve with this, we're happy to hear that it struck a chord with you.
If I may return some kind words, I had checked out some of your creations before, and they also inspired me to explore "unconventional" interactive media. I didn't realise you had ties to Gotland, what a nice surprise!
We're aiming to refine some kinks in the Moontrees experience in the near future, and hopefully grow this seed a little further :)
